Religious leaders have challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure free, fair and transparent polls during the forthcoming general elections.
Led by Bishop Julius Kalu of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), the religious leaders further urged Kenyans to maintain peace and unity before and after the elections.
“Let us remember that peaceful, fair and credible elections will bring honour to God and respect to all of us and make us enjoy good life,” Kalu said during the Easter Sunday sermon at the ACK Mombasa Memorial Cathedral.
“As we approach the general elections, let us remember that Kenya is one and that we have no other place to run to in case violence breaks out," he added.
He also called on the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati to affirm to Kenyans on the preparedness of the commission to conduct free and fair elections.
