Salvation Ministries Church clergy, Ben Kariuki has joined hands in the fight against illicit liquor which is rampant among many youths in Kiambu County.
Speaking on Tuesday at the church's ground in Kiambu Town during a counselling session, clergy Kariuki said that he would wish to see a free alcohol consuming Kiambu adding that his effort in trying to fight alcohol had started to pay.
“Since I started counselling youth on the dangers of illicit liquor, there has been a great reduction in the use of illicit liquor among the youth,” said clergy Kariuki.
The clergy said that he had a ‘calling’ to serve the 'lost' youth and revert them to the right paths.
“There has been a great change. More than 20 youth have been saved and abandoned consumption of illicit liquor,” said clergy Kariuki.
“My desire is to see all youth in Kiambu who are alcohol addicts are liberated and lead a prosperous life,” added clergy Kariuki.
He disclosed that four worshipers from his church have volunteered to provide a free counselling to the youth indulging in consumption of illicit liquor.
“Two men and two women have volunteered to facilitate the counselling sessions to theses youth at no fees,” confirmed clergy Kariuki.
The clergy urged the area residents to support his efforts in the fight against the consumption of illicit liquor.
“I need the support of the Kiambu residents to ensure youth involved in drug abuse and consumption of illicit liquor are liberated and lead to a healthy life,” appealed clergy Kariuki.
He also urged the government to play its part by addressing the plight of youth by providing more resources to enable them start small enterprises with the aim of abandoning consumption of illicit liquor.
