The clergy, politicians, and members of the business community from the Kamba community have joined the ongoing talks on national unity.
Representatives from these groups held a meeting to deliberate on the need to unite the community at a hotel in Athi River, Machakos County on Friday.
The clergies' secretary-general Bishop Joel Nzomo said there is a serious need for Ukambani's top politicians to unite so as to understand the side the community lies politically.
Nzomo said the community had lost direction hence the need for unity to end the political stalemate.
Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu cautioned the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua against touring other counties while leaders from his home turf lament with hatred amongst themselves.
“Mutua and Kalonzo must extend a handshake and end the war that has existed over the years and which has left the community a more torn one,” Mutambo said.
"All leaders from the Ukambani region, no matter from what political affiliation must come together for prosperity whether they decide to keep on opposition or to join the government but not to remain on the lukewarm," he added.
Nzomo said as religious leaders, they will organize a prayers forum to be attended by over 20,000 residents including both spiritual and political leaders in a bid of uniting the community and chatting the political way forward.
Former Kibwezi West MP Kalembe Ndile urged the clergy and the entire Kamba community to rally behind Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko whom he said is currently experiencing rough times after the resignation of his deputy Polycap Igathe.
