Members of the clergy in Kisii County have pleaded with Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to intervene and boost the escalating cases of insecurity in the region.

Led by Kisii Diocese Bishop Joseph Mairura said Matiang’i should beef up security at his backyard before chest thumbs out there.

“It is shameful that Matiang’i is more focused beefing security in other regions while his home ground is wanting. 

"Let him act and ensure police officers serving at his won backyard are competent and ready to serve and protect common citizens,” he said. 

Mairura said members of the public may take the law into their hands and kill criminals yet police officers are there to flush out criminals from the region. 

“We don’t want our people to take curses from elders for killing criminals. Police udner the leadership of Matiang’i should work around the clock to ensure our people are safe in villages,” he added.

He challenged local youths who have joined gang groups to drop and reform before the return of Jesus Christ. 

The bishop urged members of the public to be vigilant and cooperate with police to weed out criminals from the region saying unnecessary protests will not help end crime.
