A Mombasa based religious leader has pleaded with the government to forgive lawyer Miguna Miguna and allow him back into the country.
Anglican Church of Kenya Bishop Lenson Okello of St Philips Church in Likoni, Mombasa said in the spirit of Easter, the government and Kenyans should forgive Mr Miguna.
Speaking on Sunday during the church service in Likoni, Bishop Okello said the government should hold talks with Mr Miguna.
Mr Miguna was deported to Dubai after he declined to produce his Canadian passport and sign documents that would allow him entry into Kenya.
The Bishop said the government should solve issues with Mr Miguna to bring political temperatures down.
“The resurrection of Jesus brings forth a new beginning for peace and love. Instead of fighting with Dr Miguna, the Government should recognise him.”
“Frustrating Dr Miguna does not solve anything; sit and solve the issues in a Godly way. We can disagree and differ but at the end of the road we can sit down, talk and foster peace,” said Bishop Okello as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Mr Okello also urged the government to respect the rule of law saying that the manner in which the Miguna issue was handled reflected a bad image of the government.
