African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa ( AIPCA ) moderator ,Stephen Ng’ang’a has praised the courts for barring Archbishop Amos Mathenge Kabuthu from officiating church functions till the case filed against him is heard.
Speaking during a convention day on Wednesday at the church’s ground in Limuru Parish, Ng’ang’a said that the verdict came at the right time to save the church from “ one man rule”.
He said that the intervention of the court in the matters of the church was rewarding to avoid ‘further division’ in the institution.
“The court has saved the church from the authoritative rule of one man” , said the moderator.
Ng’ang’a accused Archbishop Mathenge for handling sensitive church matters by himself when protocol demands he should involve members.
“The church’s sensitive issues were handled by Mathenge without consultation from other members of the church”, said the moderator.
He further accused archbishop of not respecting the church’s constitution when delivering the church’s duties.
“AIPCA has its own constitution whish must be followed in the matters relating to the church” , said the moderator .
He also said that operations in many branches of the church have been paralysed due to 'threats' from the Arcbishop.
Justice Hatari Waweru found the Archbishop guilty of contempt of court when Mathenge conducted ordinations last week despite a court order .
