Speaking during Easter Mass at Uganda Martyrs Amagoro Catholic Church on Sunday, Fr Bonaventure Luchidio said leaders who are opposed to such unity talks were doing so because of personal gains.

"The unity between Uhuru and Raila is a symbol of peace and a sense of dialogue. The good Easter gift has helped stabilize the country. This is reminiscence to the promise Jesus brought to the world of having people come together and forgive one another. Being opposed to worthwhile ventures cannot bring peace. Leaders need to come to a round table meeting," he said.

Fr Luchidio who works at the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops as Dolores Mission School Director, also decried the scarcity of catholic priests in the country saying some areas in the country including Garissa, Mandera, Maralal and Lodwar are hard hit.

"Garissa Diocese of the Church for example has four counties including Garissa, Tana River, Mandera and Wajir with only seven priests to in the five parishes," he said.

He appealed to catholic faithful and friends of goodwill to help build the church to save faithful the agony of worshiping under a tree.
