Pastor David Maina of World Revelation Church has supported the adoption and enactment of the new Security Bill, saying it would stabilise security in the country and help in the fight against terrorism.

Speaking on Sunday at Kiambu Town during a church service, Maina said that the bill was drafted for the interest of Kenyans, and the allegations of infringement on the fundamental rights of citizens does not arise.

“The Security Bill is for the interests for the benefits of Kenyans in enhancing security issues, it was drafted with decorum and civility,” said Maina.

Maina urged all peace-loving Kenyans to support the bill, and resist calls by opposition, who want to mobilise Kenyans to take mass action by taking to the streets.

“Calls by opposition to take to streets to oppose the enactment of the Security Bill is in bad faith and does not represent the will of Kenyans, We want the opposition to join peace-loving Kenyans in implementation of the bill,” added Maina, further saying that taking to the streets will not solve the security issues in the country.

Maina's remarks comes at a time when Cord leaders are planning series of events to oppose the enactment of the Security Bill, by going to court and mobilising citizens by taking to the streets.

The opposition argues that there was no meaningful public consultation, adding that the bill was drafted in a rush and without proper understanding of the security situation and several provisions of the bill infringe on the  rights of citizens as enshrined in the constitution.
