Pastor Walter Ng'ang'a of the Christian Fellowship Ministries has urged the government to accord elected leaders VIP protection.
Ng'ang'a said that it was shocking to see political leaders, Muslim clerics and businessmen lose their lives under such unclear circumstances.
“The government should provide enough security to our leaders following spates of heinous crime,” said Ng'ang'a.
The clergy's remarks comes barely four days after the deaths of Kabete MP and trade unionist George Muchai who were shot dead alongside their aides and driver in Nairobi. The attack was carried out in the CBD by unknown gunmen on Saturday.
Ng'ang'a said that the country has lost many influential leaders who have been in forefront of fighting the rights of citizens.
“We have enough of bloodshed of the key personalities who fought for the rights of citizen. The government should do everything to halt the menace,” said Ng'ang'a.
Ng’ang’a spoke at Wangige Shopping Center , Kiambu today during a special prayer session for the bereaved members of the slain MP . Ng'ang'a urged the government to do everything at its disposal to see that those behind the death were indentified and made to answer for their crimes.
“I appeal to the government to mobilize all resources to ensure the gangsters who killed Muchai are apprehended and prosecuted,” said Ng'ang'a.
The clergy expressed optimism that police would expedite investigations and bring those responsible for the deaths to justice.
Crime scene detectives have started piecing together information to help in unraveling the death of MP. Local leaders attended the service, condemned the killing and urged the government to beef up security for elected leaders.
