Father Christopher Okoth of Sacred Heart School, Rongai, and Nakuru County has called on students to express their views to management of their schools to help in solving their problems.
Okoth said that strikes have been overtaken by time, and urged students to follow the right channels when aggrieved.
“The era when students went to streets to force the management to address their grievances is over taken by time,” said Okoth.
“Engaging students to open forum with school administration is the best way in solving the problems facing them.” added Okoth.
Speaking on Tuesday at the school's premises during the celebration of last year’s KCSE result, Okoth said there is need to guide students academically and morally.
“Apart from guiding students academically, they also need to be molded morally to ensure they are respectable members of society, there is need for students to cultivate positive image,” he added.
Okoth, who is the principal of single-sex Catholic Church of Nakuru Diocese also urged students to respect school rules.
Sacred Heart School is a boys' school, and has been performing well in National exams
“Rules are enacted to be respected but not to punish students. Discipline should be tightened in all schools if good results are to be achieved,” said Okoth.
Okoth said that the top performing schools in the country have strict disciplines, further urging teachers to step up efforts in improving performances of their schools.
“The success of good performance in schools hinges on strict discipline,” said the father.
He further urged the government to support all schools with equipment to enable them perform well.
