Bishop Nicholas Muli of Champions of Christ Church in Athi River said the Kamba Community held myths and misconceptions that negatively impacted on development of the region.

Bishop Muli stated that local leadership carried wrong information to the public especially the youth who then reject good initiatives meant to empower them.

He said the situation had affected reception of the public funds, which had been availed by the government sighting Uwezo fund as the most affected.

The clergy, who is also the Uwezo Fund Chairman of Mavoko Sub-county, said the situation had made sensitisation of the community on the fund difficult.

“It has been difficult to sensitise the Kamba community to engage in Uwezo fund,” said Muli.

Muli further said the fund's vision would not be realised if politicised, need for politicians to tell members of the public truth about the fund to spur economic development.

He called on women and youth from Kamba community to form groups and apply for the fund for socioeconomic empowerment.
