Speaking from his office on Thursday, Thika Deliverance Church Bishop Kennedy Mbatia said that the office of the Attorney General should come up to the ground since it is not fair to have it in Nairobi.

“The Attorney general offices should be dispersed to different locations of the country to ease up the work in Nairobi and even cater for those ministers from far ends of Kenya. This process has become hectic and even some of the youth have opted to marrying informally due to the delay of the marriage certificates,” the bishop explained

The bishop cited church ministers from western Kenya or even north eastern who have to travel for long distances to get the certificates. He said that the preachers use a lot of resources and a lot of time to procure the certificates.

“The preachers who serve at the far ends of Kenya have a lot of pressure when procuring for marriage certificates since they travel for very long to Nairobi. At times they get to the Attorney General’s office and camp for more than two days to request for the certificates due to the long queue,” he said.

He added that the certificates could be processed for between three days to a week forcing the clergy to use believers’ money and even reaching out to their pockets to maintain themselves in Nairobi.
