Christians across the country have been urged to pray for the country ahead of October 26 presidential election.

Eldoret Catholic Diocese Archbishop Cornelius Korir said the current political uncertainty in the country needed prayers.

"The current political temperatures in the country are worrying that's why Christians must stand in the gap and pray for the nation for sanity to prevail," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.

"As a church leaders we are calling for peace and call upon politicians to stop uttering words that might trigger violence before, during and after elections," he added.

He, however, urged Kenyans to continue maintaining peace and should not allow self centered politicians to divide them basing on political and tribal cocoons.

"Kenyans have no reason to fight each other whatsoever since they will live together even after the elections. They should remember we only have one Kenya once destroyed we will not have a spare Kenya," noted Bishop Korir.

"We are trusting God to give us peace before, during and after elections," he added.
