Speaking at Nakuru Boys High School over the weekend, chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops for Education and Religious Education Rev Maurice Muhatia said that political leaders have a role to play in uniting the country.

He raised concerns over increased hate politicking among leaders saying the situation would spew more hatred among Kenyan tribes.

The clergyman cautioned politicians against attacking each other using abusive language saying the country belongs to all Kenyans.

“I want to ask politicians to put aside their differences and work towards uniting the country. This country will only achieve development goals if leaders work together,” he said.

He added that problems facing the country can be resolved if politicians desist from hate mongering.

At the same time, the reverend also urged the national government to put in place more measures that will enhance access to education.

He observed that education is the only tool that can be used to fight poverty, adding that the constitution guarantees access to education for every citizen.
