The Association of Pastors in Mai Mahiu has raised a red flag over the increase of cases of women, youth and underage children selling and smoking bhang in the area.

Consequently they have threatened to smoke out the suspects and discipline them accordingly including banishing them from the area if the authorities fail to act.

The chairman of the association Rev Francis Kamau said at Mai Mahiu that the situation was so dire and if it was not nabbed in the bud soon this whole group of people would be lost.

The clergyman claimed that efforts to report the matter to respective authorities in the area for appropriate action had yielded nothing thus their threat to take the law into their own hands.

“We will mobilize residents in the area to flash out the suspects who are well known and ensure that they do not recruit many others.

He alleged that the dealers were so daring to an extent that they were even conducting their illegal business near churches.

Rev Kamau noted that the youths especially had become useless and could not engage in any meaningful activities.
