The clergy now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to demonstrate leadership by engaging in talks to stem tensions in the country.Speaking after a meeting with IEBC in Nairobi, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) called on the leaders to embrace dialogue, saying the Church was concerned with what was happening in the country ahead of October 26 repeat elections."We are deeply concerned with the state of our nation and we urgently need our leaders to address these issues over the upcoming polls to secure the country," said Bishop Philip Anyolo, KCCB chairperson. The bishops also told the top politicians to help restrain their supporters ahead of elections, warning the country risks sliding into anarchy if confrontations across political divide continue."We have talked to the President and written a letter to NASA."It is unfortunate that both are at opposite ends of the campaigns and their messages continue to polarise the country. They need to build bridges and save Kenya from burning," said Bishop Alfred Rotich, head of Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC).
