A Nakuru court has given Bishop Daniel Lubanga 21 days to defend himself for the defilement charges he is facing.
This is after Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku ruled that the Bishop of Grace Chapel Church has a case to answer.
“According to the evidence from the prosecution witness heard before this court, I have established that the accused has a case to answer,” Nthuku said in her ruling.
Lubanga is facing charges of defiling a sixteen year old minor on diverse dates and different occasions between January 2009 and January 27 2011 at Kiamunyi estate, Nakuru West sub-county.
A total of six witnesses have already testified including the complainant and the medical doctor who did the screening of the minor and established the indecent act was committed against her.
Lubanga told the court that he will present a sworn evidence and produce one witness in his defence.
In his submission through lawyer Elijah Maragia, the accused told the court that the allegations against him have been framed by a splinter group of the church he ministers who fell out with him and looked for ways to tarnish his name.
Lubanga will present one witness in his mitigation on September 11 after which the judgement will be issued.
