Nakuru diocese Reverend John Kipruto expressed concern over the unbridled incidences of corruption in public offices, saying that even the church has been silent on the dishonesty.

In an interview with this writer, the cleric called upon the clergy to be bold and condemn the upsurge of corrupt practices and stealing in the public sector, which he said is killing the nation.

“Every individual Kenyan has a moral responsibility to eradicate corruption. I also call upon the church not to be quiet but to fight the vice relentlessly in all levels of society for prosperity of this nation,” said Kangogo

The cleric called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto come out and protect Kenyans from run-away corruption likely to drive the country downstream.

Kangogo urged politicians and top civil servants to demonstrate concretely their integrity of service in the offices they have been entrusted with, adding that Kenyans were tired of misuse of public funds.

He urged the judiciary to leave no stone unturned in the fight against the vice, and to ‘bring to book’ all those involved in swindling of public resources by sending them behind bars.

“Culprits in corruption acts should be prosecuted and made to return all that they have stolen to the government,” noted Kipruto.

“I wonder how Kenya will achieve vision 2030 with the high level corruption evident in government institutions,” he added.

Kipruto called for a speedy probe of the corruption allegations surrounding the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the chicken gate scandal so that those found culpable of the misdeeds can be prosecuted.
