Africa Brotherhood Church (ABC) Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki has asked politicians to spearhead peaceful campaigns in the run-up to the August 8 general election.
The Archbishop wants politicians across the political divide to desist from making statements and actions that could trigger animosity and violence among Kenyans.
Addressing the press in Machakos Town on Monday, Ndambuki said that politicians have the responsibility to unite Kenyans and not create animosity and disunity.
He said that the August 8 polls will be violence free if politicians are tamed from making inflammatory remarks.
“We are appealing to politicians across the divide to tone down and focus on peaceful campaigns as the country gears up to the August general election,” said Ndambuki.
The archbishop asked relevant government agencies mandated to fight hate speech to put their act together and tame rogue politicians.
“The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and other agencies must crack the whip on hate mongers to guarantee peaceful August general election,” he said.
The cleric urged Kenyans not to fall to the tricks played by selfish politicians.
He appealed to youths to remain calm and also champion for peaceful general election.
