David Miruka, a TSC official in Kisii said the decision by the clergymen led by the Kisii diocese Catholic Church bishop Joseph Mairura to oppose the transfers of principals from Catholic schools is divisive and ill-advised.

Miruka said the church has failed in its work in the society.

“The transfers were done at an appropriate time and no one should blame TSC or the education ministry. The fact that Catholic Church sponsors some schools does not mean bishops or priests should be involved in crucial decisions,” he said.

According to Miruka, churches are only mandated to pray for peace and unity but not giving directions on how teachers should be transferred and promoted.

He called on church leaders to allow the new principals transferred to Catholic schools not only in Kisii County but also across the country to serve in the schools where they have been posted.
