Machakos Level 5 Hospital’s Clinical officers and pharmacists have come demanding for the payment of their allowances.

The medics questioned why the state has paid nurses yet they have not received any coin despite raising their concerns.

The experts lamented that they have been sidelined in the ongoing negotiations between the government and doctors in the nation.

Boniface Mitambo, a worker at the Machakos Level 5 Hospital told the Star that 17 clinical officers at the hospital have not been paid their allowances to date.

“There are 17 cadres of clinical officers, and all of them have been left out of the talks. We feel neglected because we have always worked as a team,” he said.

The team demanded to have a meeting with Governor Alfred Mutua in order to present him with a petition that he will turn forward to the Ministry of Health and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission over the matter.

Mitambo further said that is unfair to ignore the plight of clinical officers, pharmacists and physicians among other medics.

They threatened to down their tools if their grievances are not addressed in good time to allow them work comfortably. Speaking to the workers outside Mutua’s office, Health executive Naomi Mutie assured them that negotiations are under way to solve the issue.
