Cecily Kinyua, who has been a customer with the bank for the past six years, said the government should learn from the incident and keep all banks in check.

“Before Chase Bank’s reports, we have other banks which had been put under receivership yet nothing much was done then. After what was exposed at Chase Bank, the government through CBK should put very tight measures in place to govern their operations so that we do not have Kenyans panicking again over the possibility of losing their money,” she said Wednesday in Nakuru town.

James Murage asked banks to strive and work within the ethics set by the banking regulator.

“Those in-charge of banks should work by the laid down regulations because they are the people who bring down banks and if only they could work within the stipulation of the banking industry, no bank would be put under receivership,” he said.

Chase Bank has been put under receivership for one year. It is operating under supervision by Kenya Commercial Bank.
