Business people in Nyamira County have raised concern over the closure of Kisii University Nyamira branch.
The most affected are landlords who will now incur losses after the Commission of University Education announced closure of the branch.
"Students have been having renting my hostels but now I am shocked to learn from the media that the branch will be shut down," said Mr Richard Ombachi.
" I have 20 houses and all are rented by Kisii University students. For them to transferred to Kisii County means that my houses will be vacant due to lack of tenants," said Ms Moraa.
Apart from the landlords, vegetable vendors are also mulling their next move as students used to rely on them for groceries.
"Who am I going to sell my vegetables to if this customers are being transferred to Kisii?"posed one of mama mbogas who sells vegetables at Florida.
"Most of my clients are the students, who have really promoted my business and the county at large because when they buy, they help us pay levies and cess to the county government," she added.
