Harambee Stars Head coach Paul Put’s first campaign in charge of the squad seems to be a frustrating outing, after another player pulled out of the team.
Oburu is set to attend trials in Czech beginning December 3, the same day the tournament kicks off, forcing Put to axe his name from the squad.
The latest development is a blow to the squad, after three other players withdrew from the team ahead of the tourney kickoff.
The Belgian tacticians had preferred Oburu to play alongside Masoud Juma, George Odhiambo and Kepha Aswani, but will now be forced to look back and pick one more player.
Stephen Waruru (Ulinzi), Benjamin Mosha (Sony Sugar) and Nicholas Kipkirui (Zoo Kericho FC) are some of the strikers who were omitted from the final list that was released on Thursday.
Oburu played a starring role in his debut season for the Leopards, where he scored eight goals, besides helping his team lift the GOtv Shield title with a goal in the final against Kariobangi Sharks.
However, Put can rely on the services of Kepha Aswani, who was the KPL top scorer and Gor’s George Odhiambo to deliver the goods in the tourney.
