[Photo/ the-star.co/ke]As phase one of Jubilee Party nominations begin on Friday, the Coast region is expected to face titanic battles in the race for the party ticket ahead of August polls.Unlike during past nominations where the battle was seen as an only-men affair, 2017 is providing a different ball-game altogether with women keen to outsmart their male counterparts. In Taita Taveta County, the race to succeed Senator Dan Mwazo who will be running for governor is gaining momentum with Women Representative Joyce Ley who recently decamped from ODM being the front runner to bag the party ticket in a race dominated by men.In the neighbouring Mombasa County, Deputy Governor Hazel Katana who is eying the Senator position on a Jubilee Party ticket, is facing a monumental task to beat her male rivals.Kilifi County which has been on the Jubilee radar for sometime now will see Carolyne Chillango taking on her fiercest rival Kennedy Nyale in the race for the ticket to run for Senate ahead of August contest, where the winner will face ODM's Stewart Madzayo who was recently given a direct nomination by the Orange party.Lamu Island will see Monica Kirunyu battle it out with the Senator Abu Chiaba for the party ticket which is highly priced in the county.
