The facility, which has undergone a massive facelift with modern state of the art medical equipment, will offer services to patients from five counties including Kwale, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Taita Taveta.

According to Kenya Today, the hospital management oversaw the construction of a kitted neurosurgical theater and recruited a resident neurosurgeon to undertake the operations.

The hospital, which has a 700 bed capacity and nine theaters, can cater for an average of 500 deliveries per day, which include 20 cesarean section cases.

The upgrading of the hospital is part of the flagship project initiated by the Mombasa County Government as it looks forward to expanding it to a capacity of 2000 beds, as well as a medical training institution to serve public universities offering medical courses in the region.
