[Photo|Ali Hassan Joho]The Mombasa County Government in partnership with Lafarge-Bamburi Cement, have refurbished the Oncology Cancer Department at the Coast General Hospital, to an ultra-modern Day Care Chemotherapy Centre.The facility has been shifted from the current two bed clinic it currently operates, to seven treatment bays with a capacity of 21 patients daily. Governor Ali Hassan Joho indicated that the new centre would have three consultation rooms, drugs preparation room, a pharmacy to stock the latest chemotherapy drugs at highly competitive prices, outdoor sea view gardens and gazebos for group therapy sessions. He noted the facility would be manned by highly qualified personnel including: Surgical Oncologist, Gynaecologist, Nutritionist, Counsellors and Pharmacists who would provide a holistic approach to cancer management. Governor Joho who is serving his second term, on Tuesday, pledged to continue working closely and forge more strategic and mutual beneficial partnerships with key stakeholders in the county, to constantly provide dignified healthcare for residents in Mombasa.
