Hoteliers at the Coast are set to reap big this Easter holiday.

Some of the hotels in the region are already fully booked ahead of the Easter celebrations set to begin on Friday.

Most of the customers at the hotels are expected to be local tourists from Nakuru, Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, Thika among other areas within the country.

Travelers Beach Hotel marketing manager Wafula Waswa told the Nation that there is no room at the facility because of the high number of tourists seeking for accommodation, adding that they expect more local tourists than foreigners during this season.

“We expect 80 per cent of locals to come. Other guests are coming from Germany and the UK while some are from Uganda and Rwanda,” said Waswa, as quoted by the Daily.

On his part, Heritage Hotels chief executive officer Mohamed Hersi confirmed that Voyager Hotel has attracted 80 per cent guests with around 50 per cent of them coming from within the county.

Their remarks were reiterated by Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers Coast executive officer Sam Ikwaye who said hotels are expecting low numbers of international tourists.

Besides hotels, public transport and other businesses are also expected to make lots of profit by the end of the festive season.
