Kingi and his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho had their security details withdrawn after they accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of sideling the coastal region.

But the unapologetic Kingi has challenged coastal residents to rally behind the opposition to rescue the country from economic downtown.

“The coastal people believe in devolution and opposition team has shown its willingness to support the course. This is a Cord stronghold and nobody shall think of intimidating us,” he said.

“We have suffered a lot under this corrupt regime and we have an opportunity to throw them out power. It’s your time to register as voters to make a major revolution in this country,” he added.

The government has distanced itself from withdrawal of security details from the two governors adding that it was a local security arrangement.
