President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed claims that coastal region is allied to opposition adding that Jubilee will score ‘well’ in August elections.

Historically, the region has been supporting opposition due to inability for sitting governments to solve outstanding land issues.

But on Thursday during his second day tour at Kilifi, Uhuru defended his regime on commitment to solve land injustices and expressed his confidence on winning August elections.

“I hear some people saying that coast is in opposition. I want you people to prove them wrong by voting for Jubilee,” he said.

Uhuru further said: “I have tried my best to ensure squatters are settled and that is the leadership we want. I am quite sure that we shall carry the day in August.”

While Uhuru is using Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro as his point’s man, opposition leader Raila Odinga is working closely with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho.

Joho, who also doubles as ODM deputy party leader, has often engaged in bitter verbal exchanges with the head of state.
