The coastal tour by President Uhuru Kenyatta was filled by several political activities.
There was politically-timed launching of projects, party reunions as well as open display of might between Jubilee and CORD.
The thorniest matter at the Coast is land and the courageous leaders who dared talk about it were condemned in totality by the president.
President Kenyatta had to lecture some elected leaders about this matter, demanding that a solution can only be arrived at in State House.
Suleiman Dori, who represents the Msambweni electorate was one of the victims who was accused of disrespect.
Howewer, this is not a simple matter that can be solved over a cup of coffee in State House.
What the member of parliament stated is the clear picture on the ground.
This matter should not be reserved as a political vehicle. It must be sorted out now.
Coastal leaders must be at the forefront of solving land issues for a lasting solution to be reached. Do they have access to State House?
Additionally, is the president waiting for a State House visit for him to help Kenyans from the coast?
Such sentiments can be taken as a show of political segregation as the legislature pointed out.
“Your Government gave land in Vidzyani and Vumbu to an investor and we are urging you to solve the problem. It is the same with Gasi and Magaoni,” said Gori.
Kenyatta directed the MP to shun public disrespect aped from other oppositional leaders and follow what Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima did to solve the Waitiki land crisis.
He was suggesting a visit to the most powerful home in Kenya.
“I will tell you the same thing I have told MP Mwahima, there is no need to stand there and lecture me,” said Kenyatta.
