Barely a week after former Meru Governor Peter Munya was named NASA's coalition sixth principal, Coast leaders now want either Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho or his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi elevated to the same status.

Led by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, politicians in the county said Joho and Kingi have played an immense role in the alliance, adding that they deserve the new status ahead of the fresh presidential election following the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election. Speaking on Tuesday, the leaders said Joho and Kingi need to be appreciated for having delivered a large number of seats to the opposition side during the August 8 general elections."As people from Mombasa and Kilifi, we are saying either Joho or Kingi must be in that team of principals," said Baya, as quoted by the Star. The MP also criticized NASA leaders for creating room for political rejects to join the outfit, saying they might not contribute to Raila’s win in the repeat election."Some of the principals being brought in may not add value but the two have done a lot here at the Coast," he added.Joho and Kingi spearheaded NASA campaigns in the Coast region and managed to deliver majority of the seats in their counties to Raila’s ODM party.
