Two MPs from the Coastal region have vowed to support Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa in his fight against drug abuse in the region.

Speaking on Saturday when they attended the burial ceremony of Mr Jonathan Chome, a Mijikenda leader at Kashani area in Kisauni Constituency, Nyali MP Mr Hezron Awiti and his Kaloleni counterpart Mr Mwinga Gunga rallied behind the regional police boss, noting that many youth in the area were wasting away.

Speaking on Friday last week, Marwa named three famous drug barons operating in the coastal region, adding that a section of politicians were allegedly working with the cartels to convince youth who are vulnerable to drug abuse to join militia groups.

The regional coordinator said police at the Coast have since netted more than 50 youth who are suspected to be members of outlawed gangs operating within the Coastal towns.
