According to Shaban, the Coast region will have a 50-50 balance between the two political powerhouses - Cord and Jubilee, in the 2017 general election.

Speaking during an interview with The Star, Shaban said the Jubilee Party is seeking to capture a number of seats in the Coastal region, adding that Cord should expect a tough battle.

This comes after a number of leaders from the region defected form Cord during the launch of the Jubilee Party.

"There has been an increase in the number of aspirants who want to run for various seats on the Jubilee ticket. This clearly shows that the area is no longer a Cord zone and that the people have embraced change ahead of 2017," said Shaban.

Shaban further claimed that the people had lost faith in Cord, as it had done little to foster development in the region.

She said the leaders shifted allegiance to Jubilee, as it has been fundamental in spurring growth in the area.
