Mwiga, who is also the Kaloleni MP, said they are ready to listen to the council's grievances and address them accordingly.

Addressing a forum in Mombasa on Wednesday, Mwinga differed with MRC's stance of seeking to secede the coastal region from the country's mainland, saying Kenyans should remain united.

"In my opinion, the Coast region should continue being part of Kenya. We should remain as one people," said Gunga.

He also said that the CPG leadership is ready to listen to any ideas that will improve the lives of the Coastal people.

"The CPG's leadership is ready and willing to dialogue with the group and listen to their grievances. We welcome any idea that will build the Coast region," he added.

The MRC has continued with their call for the Coast region to be separated from Kenya after the Court of Appeal lifted their six years ban.
