St George’s School of Kaloleni, Kilifi County will be disqualified and banned for two-years, after it was found guilty of player impersonation during the regional school games.
This was agreed upon by the Coast Secondary Schools Sports Association jury after the school was found culpable of the offense during the games, which were held at the Kenyatta Mwatate School in Taita Taveta County.
According to the report, St George broke the rules during their semi-final rugby match against Galana which they won 10-5.
It was during this match that the referee noted that there was an ineligible player, who he said was not part of the list of players presented.
This is not the first time the school has been accused of breaching such rules, with a similar incident having happened in the last games competition, where they fielded 11 ineligible players during the regional games.
Then, the jury also disqualified the school from representing the region in the national games that were held in Nairobi.
Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, who lost in the final, were awarded the trophy and crowned the 2017 Coast Region champions.
