The Coast Secondary Schools Sports Association has elected new leaders.

Juma Bora was elected the new chairman of the association after he defeated long-serving Rodgers Siasa Mwafungo in a contest many consider as a battle of the Titans during an exercise which was conducted at the Coast Girls High School on Tuesday. Bora, also the Msambweni Secondary School principal and Kwale District Secondary Schools Sports Association garnered 14 votes against Mwafungo’s 11.

Twaha Mwatsaho was elected the new treasurer while Omar Munga retained his secretary’s post. The other who were elected include Omar Mwaomari (vice chairman), Zuhura Hussein (deputy treasurer) and David Mombo will be deputy secretary.

The members of the Committee members are Shuma Kapanga, Francis Kisilu, George Otieno, Pamela Onyach and Silas Atsulu. Bora assured the schools' heads that he will do his best following his election.

“We want to ensure that only professionals are given a chance to coach our teams so that we can develop the youth and move the sports in schools to the next level,” he said.

The polls were presided over by the Coast Teachers Service Commission’s regional co-ordinator Abdulkarim Kike who was assisted by Lamu’s John Mutegi.
