Kilifi governor Amason Kingi has accused president Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee administration, of using state institutions, to intimidate leaders from the larger Coastal region.
Citing tribulations facing his Mombasa counterpart Ali Hassan Joho, the ODM governor said the president was using the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec), the electoral agency (IEBC) among others.
''The Jubilee administration has resorted to use national institutions like the IEBC and KNEC to manipulate and intimidate opposition leaders who stand by the truth,'' he said.
''Let it be clear to president Uhuru Kenyatta that we as Coastal people will not allow ourselves to be intimidated by his administration,'' he added.
He asked Uhuru's administration to come clean as far as vetting of academic credentials for leaders is concerned and stop applying "selective justice".
'We're aware of some top Jubilee officials with dubious academic credentials and the Jubilee government has decide to act blind on them.''
He noted that Kenya was a country that also belongs to the coastal people, ''and we have to stand up and stop this cowardly Jubilee tactic of hunting opposition leaders.''
''We will stand with Hon Ali Hassan Joho and we want to assure the people of Mombasa County that 'Mheshimiwa' Joho will be in the ballot paper come August 8, 2017,'' he said, Wednesday.
