As 2022 succession politics plays out, Coast region has not been left behind.
The region that has been overwhelmingly supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga seems to be taking a different route if comments by certain politicians considered as Raila’s allies is anything to go by.
Even as the region plays to succession politics tune, women politicians have not been left out.
Here are the top Coast women politicians to watch out ahead of 2022.
1. Aisha Jumwa
She is the Malindi Town Member of Parliament elected in last year’s polls after serving ad Kilifi woman representative.
The vocal politician is a close ally of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
Jumwa recently shocked many ODM supporters when she openly declared support for Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
She is set to play a key role in Coast politics ahead of the 2022 general election.
Political analysts say that Jumwa could bid for the Kilifi governor seat to succeed Amason Kingi who is serving his final term.
2. Mishi Mboko
She is the Likoni Member of Parliament elected in last year’s election after serving as Mombasa Woman representative.
Mboko is a close ally of Governor Hassan Joho and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
She is also vocal and pushing for Joho’s 2022 presidential bid.
Mboko could succeed Governor Hassan Joho in 2022.
3. Zuleikha Juma She is the Kwale Woman representative elected in last year’s election on ODM party ticket.
Juma is Kwale’s ODM point person and an ally of Raila Odinga.
She is among politicians likely to succeed Governor Salim Mvurya who is serving his last term.
4. Ruweida Obbo
She is the Lamu woman representative elected in last year’s polls on jubilee Party ticket.
She is slowly gaining political fame owing to her close association with her constituents.
5. Shakila Abdalla
She is the former Lamu woman representative and Wiper party deputy leader.
She lost re-election in last year’s general election but has remained active commenting on political matters in the country.
She is likely come make a comeback as 2022 succession politics plays out.
