According to Committee chair Swaleh Kibwana, Mr Khoury is expected to appear before the committee  on Thursday.

“We need to know why the company released contaminated water because it is worrying when you think of the public who have unknowingly consumed it,” he said.

This comes after the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) suspended further production of Dasani water until investigations are concluded.

Earlier last week, Mombasa MCAs lamented that they had found wool in some of the bottles packaged with the water, something that raised alarm over the safety of using the product.

According to Kebs Regional Manager Martin Nyakiamo, the suspension will remain in place until the company's production line is given a clean bill of health by health inspectors.
