Malaria outbreak has lately skyrocketed in some parts of Kenya such as Baringo where six children have already died.Counties that have been enormously affected by malaria outbreak will receive additional drugs from Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), as stated by Josphat Nanok, the chair of the Council of Governors (CoG).Speaking at Afya House after he signed a return-to work-formula for the clinical officers, Nanok who is the Turkana governor said that the council is doing its best to contain the situation in partnership with the Ministry of Health.“We are requisitioning additional drugs from KEMSA, but the Health ministry is also providing support to those counties in need of extra anti-malarial drugs,” said Nanok.Nanok added that the problem with malaria in the affected areas is not associated with the nurses' strike but also other combined factors.“In some counties it is insecurity or insufficient personnel while in others it is accessibility. So it is not necessarily the nurses strike as it has been a chronic problem before,” Nanok added according to Citizen TV
