The Council of Governors  (COG) has been urged to finalise the development scheme of service for Early Childhood Education (ECDE) teachers.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Chepkoilel branch secretary general Sammy Bor this will ensure ECDE teachers are employed on permanent and pensionable terms.

“The scheme of service will streamline the sector and enable them to join the union for us to fight for their rights if infringed in one way or the other. Our mandate is to safeguard teacher’s interests,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

They will also enjoy all their investments ranging from saccos and benevolent fund. I urged the council of governors to fast-track the process since ECDE teachers across the country are passing through a hard time,” he added.

He, however, said there is need to come up with a standard procedure on how to hire the ECDE teachers.
