According to Kisii county commissioner Chege Mwangi there are more than 6,000 identification cards in his offices and at the Huduma center which has never been collected.

“For quite some time we have been informing the public that there are many uncollected IDs in our offices but none has come to pick them, we urge them to come and collect them,” said Mwangi.

In addition, he said that he is going to give out the names of those who have not picked their cards to the chiefs and assistant chiefs but not the actual Id cards.

“We are going to print out the names of those who have not picked their IDS so that they can come to our offices, we are not going to give chiefs and assistant chiefs the IDS since most people have been complaining that they (Chief) ask for transport once they bring the IDs,” added then commissioner.

The commissioner's sentiments were echoed by Governor James Ongwae who advised residents that the Identification card is so essential since it can help one acquire loans.

They were speaking at Kisii during the inauguration of new deputy county commissioner in Kitutu Central new District.
