Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has asked outgoing Bomet governor Isaac Ruto to rejoin the Jubilee party.

Speaking at the Bomet Green stadium during the inauguration of Bomet governor Dr Joyce Laboso, Mandago while quoting the Bible said Ruto should seek for forgiveness for joining the opposition.

"You know the Bible says whoever asks for forgiveness shall be forgiven. So my brother Rutto consider that and I know we won't have a problem accepting you back to our camp," said Mandago who largely spoke in mother tongue.

Ruto was a member of the then United Republican Party (URP)but declined to join the Jubilee party after URP's disillusion and instead formed his own Chama Cha Mashinani which he used to seek reelection by suffered humiliating defeat to Dr Laboso.

Mandago who faced a stiff competition in his reelection bid from tycoon Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki however thanked Ruto for helping him win a second term in office.

"When things were falling apart in my backyard Rutto came and campaigned for me and I have to thank him for helping me recapture my seat," he said.

Ruto, together with other NASA principles had asked Uasin Gishu residents to vote for Mandago claiming his competitor Buzeki was a project of Deputy President William Ruto.
