Salat said Kanu is a national party that accommodates views from all regions, unlike parties found and cantered on ethnic grounds.

He said he has remained strong in Kanu since the introduction of multi-partyism in the country, many years ago because the party is widely accepted.

"I have remained strong in Kanu due to its wide acceptance in the country, unlike other parties formed on ethnic grounds where certain communities have no say,” Salat said.

He said the party is still strong especially on the grassroots and that many regions in the country still have Kanu offices.

"Walk all over the country and tell me which region has no Kanu office,” said Salat.

Former president Daniel Moi said Kanu is still strong and should be respected as after it drove the country for many years.

He said many new parties will come and go but Kanu will remain for many years to come.

The two spoke at Kabarak High School over the weekend during the institution’s 20th celebration anniversary.
