This comes after intensified speculations that the long time Bobasi MP and now Kisii Senator was secretly planning to run for gubernatorial seat in 2017.

Ong’era, who spoke to the writer on Friday termed the speculations as ‘earthquake’ and challenged Obure to declare his support for Ongwae.

“These speculations that he (Obure) is running for governor are like an earthquake. It’s time for him to come out publicly and support Ongwae because Kisii needs all of them,” said the former ODM chief executive.

“Ongwae is doing a great job and every resident knows that. It will be unfair if my respected Senator joins the race yet we come from the same party. I think it will be appropriate if he clears the air by publicly endorsing Ongwae for the second term,” she added.

She also said Obure’s support will ease tension on Ongwae and allow him to deliver to Kisii County residents.

“Honestly, I think Ongwae is doing well. If these speculations goes on, then it will actually bring anxiety to the governor. We have to support the governor as ODM fraternity till he complete his two terms. Obure should therefore come out and back the governor,” Ong’era added.

Obure has been linked with a move to KANU, claims which he vehemently denied in his recent Facebook post.
