According to Kisii county Governor James Ongwae the regular strikes hurts the economy of Kenya and above all risks the lives.

Speaking at a fund drive aimed to uplift various saccos in a Kisii Hotel on Wednesday the governor said that the presidents should wake up and ensure that both the health and education sector receives the biggest share of national revenue as they play a key role.

“We don’t like seeing teachers and nurses going on strike now and again as that will always put the country in an awkward situation and above all the lives of Kenyans are lost,” he added.

The governor though called upon the Nurses Union to end the strike and talk with the government to strike a way forward.

Though he blamed the union heads for generalising the strike terming it illegal as the health docket was devolved.
