The call was made by the Commander of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Kapedo area Francis Ngugi, when he appeared before the NPSC vetting panel in Nakuru town on Friday.

“I would request that officers who have served in one operational area for more than twenty years to be considered for transfer,” said Ngugi.

He further said that though not complaining, this would make the police more effective and of good service to the citizenry.

The Chair of the panel and NPSC Chairman Johnstone Kavuludi in response to Ngugi's request said that the commission had underlined the issue and will be working towards it.

“We have noted that problem and not only that another officer who came here told us we need younger people in those operational areas, because once you hit 40 years, you can no longer be swift, resilient and as alert as a 25 year-old-officer,” said Kavuludi.

The vetting in Nakuru is targeting around 120 officers in the position of Senior Superintendent of Police and preceding ranks.
