Machakos county commissioner Anne Gakuria has asked security officials in the county to remain committed to their work.

Speaking to news reporters at her office early today, Gakuria said that security officials must concentrate on their work and guarantee security.

The commissioner stated that it is the responsibility of the police to ensure law and order adding that the government will continue to provide the required machinery.

“I want to encourage law enforcers across Machakos to remain committed to their work and serve the public,” she said.

Gakuria said that they are working with the county government to ensure that security is boosted across Machakos. The commissioner at the same time directed local administrators in the county to deal with illicit brewing.

She observed that cases of brewing have resurfaced and called on local chiefs to deal with the menace.

The commissioner urged chiefs to conduct swoops and destroy illegal brews being made in remote villages in some parts of the county.

Gakuria said that illegal brewing remains one of the challenges that have hindered development in the region.
