Nakuru county commissioner Mohammed Birik has asked residents to immediately report any acts of lawlessness to the police.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Birik said that his security personnel is prepared to deal with individuals or groups who might be tempted to disrupt peace.
The commissioner further said that the county has set in place security measures ahead of the festive season to ensure maximum security.
Birik added that more security patrols and vigilance will be conducted across the county, warning criminals that there is no room to operatee.
“We have put in place appropriate security plans that will guarantee safety of every resident, to reduce all cases of insecurity,” said Birik.
On security issues raised by truck drivers along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway, Birik stated that a special team of police is hunting down criminals allegedly carjacking and robbing motorists.
The commissioner urged motorists to be on the lookout and work with law enforcers in order to arrest the criminals.
Meanwhile, the commissioner has lauded residents for maintaining peace adding that they should strive to remain united.
He said the county has had no issue since the signing of peace agreement among various tribes following the chaos that erupted in the disputed 2007/2008-post poll chaos.
County Deputy commissioner Justus Motanya asked youths to work with law enforcers as they strive to boost security, further noting that youths have a role to play on matters security and peace.
